Jacksonville Jaguars offseason of change in 2011 NFL Picks - Though the Jacksonville Jaguars failed to qualify for the playoffs -- or win the regular season finale, which had playoff implications -- head coach Jack Del Rio survived to return in 2011. But despite the continuity in that position, there will be changes made. For starters, Del Rio has said that he will no longer be calling plays on defense, according to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. That duty will now fall to defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. In addition, Del Rio said that "we identified the defensive line as an area we needed to strengthen, we did that, and the other part that we knew we had to improve is our secondary. And we'll address that this offseason and get that straightened up." Shutdown cornerbacks don't typically hit the free agent market, but there is one potentially doing so in Champ Bailey. The Denver Broncos have not reached an agreement to extend Bailey's tenure with the team, and he may hit free agency. In this hypothetical realm, would the Jags target Bailey? We can't rule it out, as they did show a willingness to acquire a veteran to fill a need in signing defensive end Aaron Kampman last offseason. In addition, for a team that has had problems selling tickets, a high-profile free agent acquisition could bolster those sales. But the other way they improved the defensive line was by using their first four draft picks on defensive linemen, including Tyson Alualu at No. 10 overall. NFL Picks This year, Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara (No.'s 5 and 6 on ESPN NFL Draft Insider Mel Kiper, Jr.'s most recent Big Board) as well as Ras-I Dowling and Janoris Jenkins could all be under consideration.
