At least once in the season of every ‘field’ sport such as football or rugby, groundskeepers have to remark the boundaries of pitches with chalk or paint, a time-consuming and arduous process which carries the dangers of breathing in paint fumes or chalk dust. Permaline by comparison is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective and more durable alternative which can be installed in almost any environment where grass grows naturally. How does Permaline Work? A section of Permaline consisting of green and white synthetic grass is implanted into the soil where required but also allows natural grass to grow into the marking system itself, anchoring it into place, thereby making it even safer for players. What are the advantages of using Permaline? It is a safer alternative for marking out the lines of sports pitches as groundskeepers would not inhale paint fumes or chalk dust, as they may otherwise do as a result of repeatedly re-marking pitches. As a result there are also no chalk dust or paint chips that players could potentially trip over, slide on or inhale during a game. It is also more cost-effective than the traditional methods of marking pitches as after the product is installed it has a life expectancy of 10-15 years, thereby saving the costs of athletic paint and painting equipment. Also, because unlike traditional means of marking pitches, it does not wash away or wear out and because no special precautions are required when mowing the pitches it allows groundskeepers to engage in other projects instead of having to re-paint the pitch boundaries after a downpour. This marking system also enhances the experience for coaches, players and referees alike as the lines are more visible in poor conditions, such as rain and poor light, than with painted or chalked ones. The fact that the marking shows up extremely well under artificial light is another bonus as it allows nighttime training sessions especially during the winter months. Permaline
