The
Tareen (
Pashto ????) are a prominent
Pashtun tribe residing in
Afghanistan and in
Pakistan. Tareen is the name one of the largest Pashtun tribes, with members living in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The Tareen are an important and big Pashtun tribe, they played a key role in Sultan Muhammad Ghori's army and showed great bravery. The Tareen tribes of Hazara migrated from Kandahar as well as the Pishin District of Balochistan in the 17th century CE under the leadership of Sher Khan Tareen.

Toor Tareen is credited by local tradition as having had a son, 'Babo', who in turn had two son Ali (Alizai) and Haroon or Harun (Haroonzai) or (Harunzai). The descendants of Ali are known as the Alizai, while those of Haroon or Harun are divided into four (5) principal sections, viz
