The Offspring is an American rock band formed in Huntington Beach, California in 1984. [1] The band is credited, along with fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. [6] To date, The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDs. [7] They have sold over 34 million albums worldwide [8], making them one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time. Each album since the release of their final Epitaph album Smash has sold over a million units. [9]Since its formation, The Offspring's line-up has included Dexter Holland (lead vocals, guitar), Noodles (lead and rhythm guitars, backing vocals), Greg K. (bass, backing vocals), and Ron Welty (drums, percussion), who left in 2003. Their current drummer is Pete Parada, formerly of Face to Face, and Saves the Day, who has been with the band since 2007. Since the release of their 1994 album Smash, which is the best-selling independent label album of all time,[8][10][11] The Offspring has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Come Out and Play", and "Self Esteem". The band's next three albums, Ixnay on the Hombre, Americana and Conspiracy of One, were also successful, with Ixnay on the Hombre and Conspiracy of One reaching platinum certification, and Americana achieving multi-platinum status.[12][13] Longtime drummer Ron Welty left The Offspring in early 2003, and was replaced by Atom Willard. Later that year, the band released their next album, Splinter, to moderate sales and fairly warm reviews. In 2005, The Offspring released a greatest hits album and toured in support of the compilation. Their most recent studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, was released on June 17, 2008 with the hit singles "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "Hammerhead." The Offspring are currently planning a ninth studio album, which is due for release in 2010.[14] The band was formed by guitarist Bryan "Dexter" Holland and bassist Gregory David Kriesel (known as Greg K.), who met on their high school cross-country team, under the name "Manic Subsidal". The decision to form a band came outside of a Social Distortion concert when both were refused entry.[8] Doug Thompson was added for vocals,[15] and Kevin 'Noodles' Wasserman, the school janitor, was welcomed into the band as the second guitarist, allegedly because he was old enough to purchase alcohol for Holland and Kriesel, both of whom were under the legal drinking age.[8] The band used Thompson's friend, Jim Benton, as their drummer. Thompson was eventually forced out of the band, while Benton left. This led to Holland taking over on vocals, and James Lilja joining as the drummer. The band changed their name to "The Offspring" in 1985.[15]

11. Re-invent Your Store Towards The New Buying Mentality for 2010
October 28, 2009
In an earlier article, I spoke about new buying mentalities for Baby Boomers and their offspring. These aging generations are trying to buy items that will preserve their youth. They're adopting younger lifestyles and embracing "green" products with great enthusiasm. These purchases still fall into the discretionary spending category and I predict that 2010 will be a year where these two age groups further reduce discretionary spending and focus largely on needs based purchases. This will be more apparent with the classic baby boomers but a secondary consideration for their aging child... (read more)

16. Aspects of Grief - Who Burned My Roles?
October 02, 2009
Our roles in life define us. Parent, spouse, student, employee, sibling, and offspring are some examples. Our identity is shaped by these roles.
Before my husband's death, my defining roles were mother, wife and caregiver. With three young children and a terminally ill husband, these responsibilities took up the majority of my waking hours. When Greg died, that changed dramatically. In the aftermath of this loss, I naturally felt lost and confused. Much of this was due to grieving his absence. But, as time passed, I realized that I was also grieving the loss of my roles of wife ... (read more)

19. Boomers need hearing tests
September 24, 2009
Do parents and their grown-up children always agree on the need for a hearing test? Apparently not, according to a recent survey. Instead, more than seven out of ten disagree.
A 2009 survey of the baby-boom generation and their offspring shows how parents and children don’t always see eye to eye – or should that be “hear ear to ear”? – when it comes to getting their hearing checked. Have we spotted a potential new condition – let’s call it hearing denial syndrome - or has this always been the case?
What the results suggest is that those who need help the most – in this case, the pare... (read more)

21. Find Out If You Schnoodle Is Hypoallergenic
September 21, 2009
The Schnoodle, which is considered by some to be hypoallergenic, is the result of breeding Giant Schnauzers and Standard Poodles. Depending on how they are bred, the Schnoodle may or may not be hypoallergenic. This is because if two dogs that are different breeds are not of similar age or height, their offspring may not be hypoallergenic. This is because the dog may take longer to mature; their hair may be a mix of different textures and lengths, or because their skin may shed more often than other breeds.
Even though the Schnoodle is not considered a hypoallergenic dog by all, you can j... (read more)

22. The Shocking Truth for Female Hair Loss
September 18, 2009
When you talk about genetic hair loss most people think about the most common form of hair loss: male-pattern baldness. This is the type of hair loss that is passed on genetically to offspring from their mothers. Most often the recipients of this type of hair loss are men, but sometimes the gene can result in female hair loss. While genetic baldness in men is identified by a receding hairline or balding crown, genetic hair loss in women is a bit different. In most cases, a woman will not lose her hair in spots only but will thin out evenly throughout the head. Sometimes, this thinning can be... (read more)
