In cooking, a wafer is a crisp, often sweet, very thin, flat, and dry biscuit, too often used to decorate ice cream. Wafers can also be made into cookies with cream flavoring sandwiched between them. They frequently have a waffle surface pattern but may also be patterned with insignia of the food's manufacturer or may be patternless. The word also refers to the special small round flatbreads made for Anglican Holy Communion services; the word host is used in the Roman Catholic liturgy. These holy wafers often have an image of the crucified Christ imprinted on them. Special "spa wafers" (Czech lázenské oplatky, Slovak kúpelné oplátky) are produced in the spa towns of the Czech Republic (e.g. Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázne, etc.) and the Slovak Republic (e.g. Pieštany, etc.) Freska is an Egyptian kind of wafer sold only on the beach in the summertime. It is made from two thin circle-shaped wafers filled with a thin layer of honey syrup.

1. Data Recovery for NAND and NOR Flash Memory
August 27, 2009
NAND or NOR Flash Memory: Flash memory is a non-volatile data storing memory wafer that involves electrically erasing and reprogramming technology. Being non-volatile these chips are capable of storing data even in the absence of power and are renowned for fast reading and better kinetic shock resisting qualities. NAND devices are accessed serially, using the same eight pins to transmit control, addressing and data. NAND flash was introduced by Toshiba in 1989. Although NAND and NOR memory chips function differently they are still widely being used in various electron... (read more)

3. Get a Good Impression With Address Emboss Plates
July 22, 2009
It is a known fact that most legal documents are authenticated by the application of a raised seal. This process is known as embossing and the machine used is known as an embosser. Embossing can either be done directly on a piece of paper or on a self-adhesive foil wafer. It is a very simple process and can be done by anyone (even by a kid!).
Besides authentication, embossers are also used to create a raised address on invitations and personalized letters. The specialty of an address emboss plate is that you can change its dies and get different images by swapping the dies.

October 30, 2008
You’ve been there before. Sitting in a doctor’s examining room, holding together a wafer-thin way-too-revealing gown, paper crinkling under you as you shift uncomfortably and wait for what you assume will be a 10-minute exam (max) with a doctor juggling too many patients and too little time. Then in she walks, wearing clinician scrubs, a lab coat, and a warm smile. She proceeds to do something you least expect: sit down and talk to you. More specifically, ask you — not just about your symptoms, but about your concerns, your goals, your job, your hobbies, your family, your life. Even more ... (read more)

9. Porcelain Veneers Can Fix Many Dental Problems
April 30, 2008
Porcelain veneers have quickly become one of the most common and popular options for fixing chipped, uneven, or discolored teeth. The application of porcelain veneers by your cosmetic dentist is a fairly simple procedure, requiring very little, if any, anesthesia. It is the most conservative and ideal option for many who want the perfect smile.
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain that fit over damaged, discolored, or misshapen teeth. Porcelain is an extremely durable material with a color, translucence and texture very similar to tooth enamel. It is not susceptible to dec... (read more)

12. The Edible Bible
February 15, 2008
Years ago, I thought of manufacturing and selling edible Bibles. The book would be condensed, including only the most frequently quoted scriptures with pages made of a thin, wafer material similar to Catholic Holy Communion hosts. The idea was to cut out your favorite scripture and then eat it, after which it would mystically go deep inside where you would actually live that scripture. As my spiritual life matured, however, I realized that simply reading something or even eating the words was not enough for a personal transformation to take place. We have to experience something qu... (read more)

13. Creating a Good Embosser
December 17, 2007
Creating a Good Embosser
Most diplomas and many legal documents are authenticated by the application of a raised seal. The process is called embossing and the machine used is an embosser. Embossers are also used to create a raised return address on invitations and personalize books. The embossing can be done directly on the paper if not thick or on a self-adhesive foil wafer. The wafer is pealed off the paper liner and placed on the paper.
The process is easy to understand. An electronic image file is sent to a laser that engraves a positive and negative die. On the positive die th... (read more)

15. Samsung SPH-M510
June 06, 2007
Description The Samsung SPH-M510 is an attractive clamshell, though it seems a bit reminiscent of other clamshells on Sprint's lineup, namely the SPH-M610 and SPH-M500. The phone is relatively compact, but not wafer-thin at 0.7 inches and certainly cannot compare the M610, which measured in at about half an inch. The M510 is slightly taller and wider than the M500 but still felt pretty light in our hands. The Samsung SPH-M510 for Sprint certainly is eye-catching it also comes in basic black and it offers a respectable feature set including support for Sprint's EV-DO network, a 1.3-megapixel c...
