1. Art Simple Stir-frying
November 12, 2008

My first stir-fry experience came with my first job: I was a stir-fry cook for my university's dining hall. It was no glamorous gig; in fact, since I received nothing but a wok and a perforated plastic cooking spoon when I started and barely knew how to cook anything then, it was tough. My first few stir-frys were guesses: I remember balancing soupy creations on students' trays or giving them back a bowl of still-raw veggies with just a tad of teriyaki sauce. Though the students' faces varied in degrees of revolt at the sight, each time one thing was certain: The pan scrubbers in th... (read more)

2. Childrens Aprons for Work and Play
August 10, 2008

What is it that comes to mind when you think of an apron? Is it a childrens apron? Probably not. This is because what most people think of when they picture an apron in their mind is a kitchen or wok apron for adults. However; what the average person doesn't know and people that work with kids do, is that kids also need aprons to wear when they are eating or doing art work. Back Before the Internet People who worked with kids in that past had to make do with the limited choice options in childrens aprons that were available. They had to be purchased from a local source and there were... (read more)

5. Gas Hobs For Your Kitchen - a Quick Guide
July 02, 2008

Gas hobs have always been popular as they give more control and quicker heating than electric hobs. It is rare you find a modern chef cooking on anything other than gas as they offer an instant change in temperature. A good kitchen layout will help hob safety, and this should be considered before placing the hob in your kitchen design. You should be able to transfer a pan from hob to sink without going through any obstacles or crossing people. Try to allow room to place the hob down either side of where it is installed, as this gives the chance to take the pan off the hob in complete... (read more)

6. Very Tasty Fried Vegetable
June 07, 2008

Heat up a little canola oil, or whatever you like to stir-fry with, in a deep pan or wok. Put the harder vegetables in first, and cook them hot, stir-frying them to keep them from getting burned. When those are starting to soften, turn down the heat a touch and add the "softer" vegetables, like squash and mushrooms. Add a little more oil if you must, and stir-fry everything until the new vegetables start to get tender. When they're done, so are you. The vegetables I like to use in this recipe is pretty similar to the stuff I like to steam. Yellow & zucchini squash, zucchini peel (not kidd... (read more)
