The legal workweek (in the UK called the working week) varies from nation to nation. The weekend is a part of the week usually lasting one or two days in which most paid workers do not work.

In Muslim-majority countries the legal work week in the Middle East is typically either Saturday through Wednesday (as in Algeria[1] and Saudi Arabia[2]), Saturday through Thursday (as in Iran[3] [4]) or Sunday through Thursday (as in Egypt[5], Syria[6], United Arab Emirates[7] [8])

For most Israelis, the workweek begins on Sunday and ends on Thursday or Friday at noon[9] to accommodate the Jewish Sabbath which begins Friday night.

When Summer months come to term, the city turns into a hot and muggy mess. People escape the city cutting their workweek short and getaway to Long Island for the cool beaches and glimmering water. Long Island is a hop, skip, and a jump from the city thus making it the easiest and quickest destination for New York City residents. February 15, 2008

One day Martha snapped and started to scream at Jim. For years, she had been putting up with his golf obsession, silently and smilingly. All the things she did not have time to do during her busy workweek. Many Saturdays, while Jim was off with his buddies drinking beer and swinging shots, Martha was sitting at home stewing in fury, and sometimes crying. 9. I work for my Dad - Do I still have to pay into employment insurance?
January 08, 2008

When it comes to working in Canada, most of us will only see a fraction of what we actually earn in the average workweek. The reason? Canada is a “socialized” country, and that means we have plenty of programs at work that are intended to make life less costly for those who can least afford it. These programs are funded by taxes, and taxes come in many different forms. One of the most misleading of these taxes is what is known as Employment Insurance. Not only is the name misleading (paying out these fees won’t ensure employment, it is meant to keep people paid when they are unemployed), ... (read more)
