The festival of Rakhi is well known as Raksha Bandan. This is not only a festival but a great spiritual custom too. A sacred thread is tied on the hand in yajna ceremonies generally by the Brahmin for the purpose of safety and prosperity. As the Aryans abandoned nomadicism for an agrarian lifestyle, the rituals were no longer an entirely mobile event.
