4. Team Work? No Thanks!
May 27, 2008
We might as well admit it: we hate working in a team.
Years ago when we still worked at corporate, we’d shrink in dismay at being assigned to a team to make certain changes in a policy or in a process. Our first reaction was always, “another traffic congestion in the making.” To us, team work was synonymous to excessive yak-yak-yak, delays, unnecessary activity and frequent meetings with no meeting of the minds.
We’re sure we’re not the only ones who feel this way. Our dislike for team work was confirmed when we were downsized over two years ago. Instead of looking for another... (read more)

7. Exotic Foods From Around the Globe with DirecTV
June 12, 2007
Wouldn’t you love to sit down to a nice meal of hot roasted termites, or sip a hot cup of tea that has a scoop of yak butter in it? Of course you wouldn’t. They say that the termites taste like chicken, or maybe it’s the chicken that tastes like termites. Hot tea with a scoop of yak butter in it, is a beverage of Nepal.
I suppose you can try this one at home, by substituting standard store bought butter from your refrigerator, but it is probably an acquired taste, that takes some time to appreciate. Travel and cooking channels that come in DirecTV programming, are a great way to get a goo... (read more)

8. Writer School?
January 09, 2005
WRITER SCHOOL?
Copyright 2004, Michael LaRocca

There's a lot of middle ground in the writing world, of course,
but for some reason it never seems to accompany these... (read more)
