Coordinates 63°38'N 135°46'W? / ?63.633, -135.767The name Yukon Territory may also be used, although this usage is disputed by residents of the territory. The federal government's most recent update of the Yukon Act in 2003 confirmed Yukon, rather than Yukon Territory, as the current usage standard.[3] At 5,959 metres (19,551 ft), the Yukon's Mount Logan, in Kluane National Park and Reserve, is the highest mountain in Canada and the second highest of North America (after Mount McKinley). The immensely sparse populated territory abounds with snow-melt lakes and perennial snowe-capped mountains. Although the climate is Arctic and subarctic and very dry, with long, cold winters, the long sunshine hours in short summer allow hardy crops and vegetables, along with a profusion of flowers and fruit to blossom.

1. Seattle in the Mid 1800s to Early 1900s
October 27, 2008
Seattle was founded in 1852 and grew slowly at first but in 1900, a few years after the amazing wealth that was obtainable from Canada’s Yukon Territory, it reached 80,671. The Northwest region experienced slow development of professional Landscape Architecture because of the profession’s small size on a national scale but John Charles Olmsted made a big difference in Seattle and the surrounding area. He arrived in 1903 to design the park and boulevard system. Some of his work includes the Chester Thorne Estate on American Lake in Tacoma, Seattle’s Volunteer Park, and the Hiawatha Playgroun... A potato that boils well and tastes good is the Yukon Gold.

3. GMC Yukon Hybrid Review - The Pros and Cons
September 17, 2008
The 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid has been described as “impressive”, “stunning” and “magnificent” by both reviewers and owners. They’re not talking about the Yukon Hybrid’s performance, amenities or looks, although all are average or above. They’re talking, instead, about the fuel economy figures they see with this hefty hybrid. Both of GM’s 2009 full-size SUV hybrid models, Yukon and Tahoe, feature the innovative, 2-mode hybrid system, introduced in 2008. Combined with GM’s active fuel management technology and a unique late-intake valve opening system, the computer-modulated 2-mode electronic varia... (read more)

4. The Alaska Highway: A Road of Wilderness Mystique - From Dawson Creek to Fairbanks
August 20, 2008
The black bear interrupts its roadside foraging to glance reproachfully at the intruders. The bus driver has slowed down so that we can gape. His cry alerting the passengers is one we hear often on the Alaska Highway, and not just for bear sighting. Dall sheep, standing out in brilliant white against rocky mountain slopes. Moose, elk, grizzlies in the distance. A lone wolf slouching across our path. Caribou sighting becomes old hat. The highway is exploding with life and color and the salmon are running. Once, as our Greyhound bus skirts a river, we see a bald eagle swoop down on the... (read more)

July 14, 2008
Sell your Gas-Guzzling SUV - Fast! By Buddy Evans, President of Big Bucks Auto™ With national average gas prices now above $4 a gallon – and rising – many SUV owners are feeling a great deal of pain at the pump. So much so that many SUV owners want to sell their gas-guzzling SUVs – and fast - in favor of more economical vehicles. After all, large SUVs such as the GMC Yukon Denali have gas tanks of 30 gallons or larger, while maintaining less-than-stellar fuel economy. This can translate to frequent $100+ fill-ups. If draining your wallet just to fill your tank is no longer your cu... (read more)

8. Wisconsin Foodie Gone Wild
January 03, 2008
As a foodie living in Green Bay, it should never be questioned whether I, a Wisconsinite, am proud of our most notable masterpiece: Cheese. Our beer is known to brew up a lot of emotion as well. But to say that brews and cheese and are the only culinary creations we can muster up would be doing a disservice to other unique food traditions throughout Northeast Wisconsin—and the rest of our fine state.
It is that very argument that brought me here—behind the wheel of my husband’s GMC Yukon XL—with five of my family members from back East in tow. That’s right—New Yorkers—and snobby ones at ... (read more)

She’s virtually alone in Atlanta – Burt’s family is in Fort Lauderdale, and we’re recently out here in the Nashville area. But Beth is just one of those special folks who never complains. She somehow manages to see the good in any situation, and is always ready to help those she sees as less fortunate than herself.

Skagway is a charming stop on your Alaskan cruise, which takes you back to the days of the gold rush. Most of downtown Skagway is now part of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, and it has been restored by the federal government as well as the people of Skagway to its original unique beauty. 13. Martin Kippenberger selected artwork and Paintings
August 03, 2007
Martin Kippenberger’s career has transformed into an almost cult-like legend, existing as much in lore-ish tradition as in the actual physical works. He’s the guy who bought a run-down gas station in Brazil and named it after a Nazi war criminal. He built an imaginary global subway system with real entrances installed in the Yukon, Leipzig, and a remote field in Greece (and working air vents at various points in between). He opened The Museum of Modern Art in an unused abattoir in Syros (MOMAS). He bought a Gerhard Richter painting to use as a coffee table. For Kippenberger, art wasn’t about d... (read more)

The last Northern gold rush occurred in the late-19th century in the Yukon when tens of thousands of prospectors made their way to Dawson City to find their fortunes. Since then, miners and oil workers have continued to seek wealth in the North. In the past decade, history has repeated itself with the discovery of diamonds in Canada's North.
Diamond exploration in Canada began in the 1960s, but major discoveries of diamond-bearing kimberlite ore did not occur until the 1990s. With the discovery of diamonds in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut in 1991, Canada has risen to become ... (read more)
