5. COVID's Breakdown
March 20, 2023

COVID's Breakdown “You better stop and look around Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes Here comes your 19th nervous breakdown.” The lyrics from the Rolling Stones’ famous 1964 song “19th Nervous Breakdown” seems to best summarize the world’s trauma over the past three years. The population didn’t look around when Covid-19 arrived…they simply swallowed the CDC’s edicts and the politicians’ decrees forming a state of mass psychosis. A few virologists and epidemiologists challenged the policies the government dictated but those doctors were intimidated, ridicule... (read more)

6. Pension Fund Bailouts
December 13, 2022

Pension Fund Bailout Last week, President Biden announced a bailout of $36 billion of the Central States Pension Fund, primarily affiliated with the Teamsters Union. The diminished investment returns on the Fund’s assets were projected to reduce retiree payouts to 50%-60% of current levels. The largest pension fund bailout to date, the $36 billion stimulus will provide approximately $100,000 to each pension fund beneficiary over time. Biden used his executive authority to recapitalize the Fund under the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, passed by Congress in 2021 to assist the economy’s... (read more)

7. The Student Loan Conundrum
September 07, 2022

The Student Loan Conundrum I’m pivoting from my traditional satirical posts via “The Mirror Rearview” to comment directly about current events from an economic perspective. In this blog, I wish to specifically express an opinion about the student debt relief program recently announced by President Biden. I oppose the debt forgiveness edict because I fundamentally believe in personal financial responsibility. Nonetheless, I also interpret Biden’s announcement as another example of a government policy gone awry with debt relief favoring a select class. Stepping back, the core problem i... (read more)

10. Trump ‘offered Kim Jong Un a ride home on Air Force One
February 23, 2021

Donald Trump offered North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a ride home on Air Force One after a summit in Hanoi two years ago, according to a new BBC documentary. Kim and Trump first engaged in a war of words and mutual threats, before an extraordinary diplomatic bromance that featured headline-grabbing summits and a declaration of love by the former US president. But no substantive progress was made, with the process deadlocked after the pair’s meeting in Hanoi broke up over sanctions relief and what Pyongyang would be willing to give up in return. 12. An American Patriots Shame
February 09, 2021

As I watched the 13 minutes from the impeachment trial opening, I became profoundly ashamed. Many of the insurgent's parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and ancestors fought for...(?) this country(?), our Constitution(?), a way of life that has been blissfully dead for 200 years? Indeed some of those insurgents where or had been in the military or police forces fighting for...? I'm not so sure anymore. If that is the equal so many of us have fought and died for, for so many decades and centuries, then it's time to revisit our truths, our democracy, our republic. I don't want to be equal... December 10, 2020

With their ability to improve situational awareness, DRONES are becoming increasingly valuable to incident response. Also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), drones are used for package delivery such as defibrillators, search and rescue, and communications. During Hurricane Harvey’s aftermath in 2017, drones were deployed to assess the extent of damage, presence of hazardous materials, and search for survivors. Last month, two teens stranded off the coast of Australia were rescued by a drone, which was able to launch a self-inflating raft into the water in under two minutes. Fi... (read more)

25. Call for decency and cooperation
October 04, 2020

I am a concerned patriot of the United States of America, and I beseech those who love our country to consider. Take heed. I've thought much about the time when we could disagree with one another, but that didn't mean that we should banish those who disagree with us from this country or even the planet. Disagreement provided us with the opportunity to grow as individuals and as a country. Disagreeing helps us see things we hadn't considered. When we approach issues with respect for others and concern for the health and safety of all people not just for ourselves, and with common decency we are... (read more)
