Woman's Gymnastic has amazed enthusiast through out the decades. I think back as a little girl my first experience with gymnastics was when I was 5 years old and my mom showed me how to do a front flip. I didn't have to learn this for gymnastics but for baton twirling. That first handspring was the start of my most favorite sport while growing up. I was very fortunate, I began my enthusiasm for gymnastics in the last part of the 60's early 70's. I was 8 years old when I first saw Cathy Rigby compete, she stole the hearts of many young girls and many gymnast enthusiast. She was amazing to watch. She delivered something special to girls gymnastics. I had a scrap album starting at that era. I would get gymnastic pictures from any newpaper that I could located them and pasted them in my book. Today is simple because you can find a lot of gymnastics clipart on the internet. The 70's was a very amazing decade for gymnastics. During the 1972 Olympics we were introduced to Russian gymnast Olga Korbut. She was exciting. She had a contagious smile and a tiny very twistable body. Her ability gave her advantage on the beam and floor exercise. She knew how to work the audience with her gymnastics. I was 12 years old and that was the first time I had observed someone kick their foot up and reach the back of their head. A trick I eventually learned. She was 14 years old when she did gymnastics in summer Olympics in Montreal. I remember watching her. I was 13 at the time and I was in love. My scrap album was getting a bunch of as many pictures as I could get. They were produced in newpapers and teen books. Gymnastics clipart is at our disposal with today's internet. I did real well with the pictures that were accessible to me. I would love to know what had became of my old scrap album. Today I watch my 6 year old granddaughter tumble around in the yard doing cartwheels and trying to learn the front handspring. This brings fabulous childhood memories that will last me for the rest of my life and hopefully the rest of hers. Today is the day to start on her gymnastics scrap album.
