Effectively Treat Acne - Separating Myth From True Causes

Health
To effectively treat acne, you need to know what factors can cause or worsen the condition. You’ve probably heard the myths that eating chocolate or oily foods causes acne. While a healthy diet is recommended, there is no one specific food that causes acne. Similarly, there are common acne myths concerning skin care and sun exposure. Here are some factors to consider in your attempt to treat acne.

Age. Acne can affect people of any age, but it’s more predominant in teens and young adults. After the age of 25, the chances of developing acne or suffering additional outbreaks drops dramatically. For adults beyond their mid-thirties, the risk of acne is even less. Cases of acne in adults are often the result of a hormonal imbalance.

Diet. It’s a myth that chocolate, sweets, and oily foods cause acne. However, a healthful, well-balanced diet can help in treating the condition. Keep your skin looking its best by eating several servings of fresh fuits and vegetables every day. Drinking plenty of water is also important to flush toxins from your body and to keep your skin hydrated. Not only will sufficient water intake help your acne, it will benefit your overall health.

Vitamin Supplements. Studies show that many cases of acne may be related to a vitamin deficiency. If you’ve tried improving your eating habits but still experience frequent outbreaks, try adding vitamin supplements to your diet. Vitamins A, B5, C, D, and E are all necessary for healthy skin.

Stress. The effect of stress on acne has been a hot topic for many years. Although stress may not be the cause of an acne outbreak, unnecessary emotional turmoil can make an acne condition worse or cause it to recur frequently. Exercise or practice relaxation techniques to reduce your stress to a more manageable level.

Skin Care. Many people think that acne is the result of poor hygiene. In treating the condition, they may resort to an extreme cleansing regimen. Scrubbing or exfoliating your skin will not cure acne. In fact, harsh cleaning is more likely to make acne worse. It is better to wash gently with a mild cleanser and avoid facial creams and cleansers that contain harsh ingredients.

Sun Exposure. Another common acne myth is that sunlight will heal or “dry up” your blemishes. While a tanned face may help conceal red patches on your skin, a day in the sun will not heal or improve acne. In fact, some acne medications and topical ointments can react with the sun to aggravate your acne further.

Dealing with acne is similar to treating other conditions and illnesses. There is no quick fix or miracle drug to cure the problem. Learning to separate the facts from the myths is essential.

Treating acne involves a variety of methods including medication, dietary changes, proper skin care, and relaxation techniques. Learn about today's most popular ways to treat acne at Cure Pimples. www.curepimples.info
