This can be done by attaching the plummet with the hook and then allow it to hang beneath the float. Next, sway the plummet in the expected fishing area.the float will either stay flat or sink in the water and this nature of float will tell you whether the water is too deep or too shallow. Now, you can drag the rig back and adjust it accordingly. This process should be repeated until you get an exact idea about the depth of the water. . After the depth is known and the float rig has been adjusted, detach the plummet and you are ready for fishing.
