Making rice with a rice cooker is so easy a caveman can do it! Rice cookers are one of the best kitchen appliances to have because it saves you so much time. It's just as important as a blender in the kitchen if you plan to make rice. Over 3 billion people from China and India eat rice as their main staple, so many people can't be wrong. Let me ask you. Can you cook spaghetti? I'm not even asking about adding any type of Pesto or of Mariana or Alfredo sauce. I am saying only preparing water for unelaborate spaghetti. No, you say?! What about this, can you boil an egg? I'm not going to ask you to respond to that. But, let me say to you. Preparing rice with a rice cooker is 5x easier. Why? Because you don't need to mess with fire (for those that have a gas range), setting a timer, pre-heating an oven, or checking if your pasta is al dente. Making white or brown rice with a rice cooker comes out perfect every time you make it. All you have to do is add water and press a button. That's it! Don't trust me. I'll confirm and prove it! All you require is a sufficient rice cooker, acceptable quality rice, water, and your finger. You have been told the old expression "A inferior player blames his instrument," well it's wrong Try slicing a steak with a blunted knife and you tell me if it's the instrument or the guy cutting the steak. Now you understand the importance of having a decent quality rice cooker. Let me stop my gabbing, simple steps to prepare great tasting rice every time with a rice cooker starts now for you! Step 1. Add the desired amount of white or brown rice you want into the rice cooker pot. EASY TIP: 1 cup of dry white or brown rice after cooking is about 2 medium servings. Step 2. Make a #1 sign with your forefinger. Then point your finger into the rice cooker pot so that the tip barely touches the top level of rice. If you prefer stickier rice, add enough water until the water gets up to your first knuckle. Be sure not to add too much water otherwise the rice will become soggy. For fluffier rice, add enough water so that it is a bit beneath your first knuckle. For jasmine and basmati, make sure to stop near the end of your first knuckle; if it's another long-grain rice or brown rice, you can go just over your first knuckle. It doesn't need to be exact, just eyeball it. Because there are many things out of your control, for example, the altitude where you live, the humidity, the quality of the rice, and even the brand of rice there is an 'exact' measure. Try it a few times and you'll get it right. But, the great thing about a rice cooker is that you never have to worry about anything burning. Step 3. Lastly, put the pot in the rice cooker. And push the switch or button. When the rice is ready, the rice cooker will automatically stop and be in keep warm mode.
