I’ve been going out with my girlfriend for well over a year now, and a few months ago with Christmas approaching, I wanted to get her something good. Not meaning to brag, but I’m usually good with getting her presents. She always seems impressed, not necessarily wow’d by the price tags or lavishness, but with the practicality and usefulness. This Christmas, I wanted to get her something she would use a lot. Since she’s a very social girl, always going out with her friends, I thought a nice camera would do the job. Honestly, I’ve always been a Canon guy my whole life. I went from a bulky Canon Powershot about 8 years ago to a really tiny Canon. Now that I’ve gotten into more serious photography, I’m more of a Nikon guy. I thought for this gift that a nice, classy point and shoot would work. While an entry level Powershot in her favorite color pink would be nice, I knew she needed something with a little more power and worth for the money. So I decided to go with the Canon Powershot S95. For the price, it’s a really good deal. My girlfriend’s always been a creative girl. She’s pretty artsy in the inside, but she seems to hide it with a very corporate exterior. Maybe this camera will bring out the artist in her. A few days before Christmas, I took her out to dinner, and we exchanged gifts. She absolutely loved the camera, and now, I see her Facebook filling up with albums because of it. I also love the fact that since she carries her camera in her purse everywhere she goes, she says that she’s always thinking of me. And I even scored a few brownie points with her parents since they always take their family pictures with her camera now.
