Clothes are necessary for every human. This is actually one of the basic needs in order for us to live healthy and happy. Imagine living without clothes amid cold and heat. Even animals need furs and skin to protect them from change in temperature. Scrubs, uniforms and jackets are created and invented for the same cause. Healthcare personnel, as we often see them are people who take care of our health and help us to be well during our sickness or if we are suffering from any disease. We habitually distinguish them as the people who wear scrubs or uniforms. Sometimes, we also notice them, dressed in nursing skirt or scrub pants. Yet, have you ever seen a nurse or a doctor in fleece jackets or warm up jackets? Nurses and doctors are allowed to put on fleece scrubs and warm up jackets to keep them warm. However, warmth is not only the gain that we could get from fleece jackets and warm up jackets. Here I’ll point out some of the reasons why, nurses and doctors and other medical workers are using fleece jackets and warm ups, not just scrubs and uniforms. 1. Sanitary purpose Just like the purpose of scrubs to nurses, warm up jackets and fleece jackets can be used for sanitary reason to keep nurses and doctors from bringing infection to the patients and vice versa. Antimicrobial jackets are also available in the market nowadays. There are actually reusable or disposable warm up jackets. 2. Convenience Fleece jackets are convenient to use since, like scrubs it is machine washable and dries quickly. Because nurses and doctors often have long shifts, warm up jackets aim to help and bring warmth. There are also fleece jackets and warm up jackets that have large pockets that could hold stethoscopes, notebooks, pens and scissors. 3. Comfort Fleece jackets in particular are made up of fleece fabrics that are highly breathable and very comfortable to wear even in strenuous physical activities and work at the hospital. Perspiration is not also a problem because fleece doesn’t absorb moisture. 4. Warmth Warm up jackets and fleece jackets keep nurses and doctors warm even inside the operating room that is a cool place. Cynthia Spry the author of “Essentials of Perioperative Nursing” recognized warm up jackets as helpful and could be a good outfit during operations and while in the operating room. 5. Fashion This reason is not actually a priority, for, being a nurse or a doctor doesn't require you to be fashionable and trendy. However, there are still nurses and doctors that want to look fashionable even during their working hours. Fleece jackets and warm up jackets could be of great help for those nurses and medical workers that don't want to look simple and basic. And there are, in fact, scrub shops and uniform stores that offer fashionable warm up jackets and fleece jackets.
