We have all been victims of dull and boring presentations, and so I would like to help both you and your audience avoid this pain! I've helped tons of people deliver top notch and aesthetically appealing presentations. In this article are a handful of things I've learned over the years. 6 simple tips to help spice up your next presentation: 1) Capture your audience's attention. People can tell if you are passionate about your presentation from the moment you open your mouth. Find an unusual or humorous story that you are looking forward to telling in your intro. March up to the stage with confidence. 2) Use your PowerPoint presentation as a backdrop but not as the primary focus. The main attraction of your presentation needs to be you. The slides and pictures should help underscore what you are saying, not vice versa. Pretend for a moment that in your next presentation, your LCD projector stops working just before it's time for you to present. Would you still be able to pull it off? 3) Don't get text-heavy in your PowerPoint presentation. Just place the key ideas in your slides along with a graphic. If there is too much text, it is difficult to see from far away, and for the people that can see it, they will likely read it all on their own instead of tuning in to you. 4) Avoid using the standard templates in Microsoft PowerPoint that everybody else uses. That is the fastest way to lose your audience. If you don't have the time or graphic design skills to design a great PowerPoint presentation, consider hiring a company that does PPT outsourcing. 5) Interact with Your Audience. Research reveals that individuals retain only 10% of what they hear but almost 70% of what they discuss. If your content is conducive to small group discussions, split them into groups in order to have them discuss it. You will boost your effectiveness by 60%! 6) Use humor. Search for a humorous video on YouTube that reinforces your point. A little comedy goes a long way during a long meeting. I hope your next presentation is a success!
