Tennis courts are a place of action and adrenaline, but there are times when players need to rest or friends want to watch, courts with tennis benches say sit down, stay awhile and get your game on when you’re ready. Court Benches Standard court benches come in many different styles and colors. Choosing the right tennis bench for your court is as important as choosing the right plants for your landscaping. They need to withstand the environment and add something to the aesthetics. Most benches today are made from either anodized aluminum or PVC (vinyl coated polyurethane) and are coated with UV protection. PVC benches usually come in green, white or, brown, to match a variety of surroundings. Aluminum benches have more color options. High-density polyurethane (HDPE) benches are more durable in high traffic areas, but come in fewer styling options. Standard tennis benches with no back support are going to be cheaper, but people tend to lean against fences in these situations and replacing a fence is costlier than purchasing a slightly more expensive bench from the start. More comfortable models are available with back support and even ergonomic curves for a fancier touch. Bench legs with bolt holes can be secured permanently to prevent theft and court vandalism. This feature is not standard on all models and needs to be requested at time of ordering. Cabanas Shade structures are sold separately as cabanas. These standalone structures can be installed over existing benches and will not only offer shade for players and their fans, but will protect the tennis bench from the long term damage of relentless UV rays. Some courts don’t have enough space on the sidelines to install a full size cabana or even a bench. Fence cabanas attach flush to the fence structure, giving players a shaded area to keep their water bottles and bags. Placing them at regular intervals around the court can greatly reduce the temperature of the court, making it a place people want to linger, instead of bolting as soon as their workout is over. Shaded gazebos Tennis courts can quickly become a hot and muggy place, with the dark green of the court surface reflecting the sun’s rays and windscreens blocking the cooling breeze. Tennis gazebos can help players catch a quick cool down in a refreshing spot of shade. Tennis gazebos are sold as a tennis bench and shade structure package. There are single and double bench options, for a stadium feel, so more people can benefit from the structure’s protection and watch the match. More upscale gazebo packages include a picnic table and bench combo that will turn any tennis court into a family outing. Court side lunches will become the new tradition. Properly equipping a tennis court with screens, netting, posts and surfacing is important, but it will all go to waste if the court is not inviting. Tennis benches and cabanas are the final piece in opening up a pleasing and popular court to players and onlookers. ----- Do It Tennis is based in the city of Oceanside and is located in San Diego County, CA.
