Kayaks have been around for a very long time, and people have used them for purposes that range from fishing, to travel, and now sport. There are a number of different kayaks available today and over the years they have evolved for use in both solo adventures as well as tandem operations. In addition to that, they have become much more convenient to transport, especially when you consider how popular the inflatable whitewater kayak has become over the years. As far as inflatable kayaks go, there are a number of different types, and to begin we will discuss the touring kayak. Touring Kayak: This particular model is in fact available in the inflatable variant and this kayak is suitable for both fresh water and ocean water. These are the long, slender kayaks that many are accustomed to seeing. In some cases you will find that these models have rudders which permit for easier turning. Oftentimes these are considered to be an inflatable fishing kayak. General: The general purpose inflatable kayak can be used for a number of different activities. For instance it can float well in mild ocean waters as well as basic river running. The cost of doing bother however equates to not excelling in either environment. Thought they are very basic models, they will cost considerably less, making them more suitable to beginners and causal riders. White Water: The inflatable whitewater kayak is short and wide, and is more than capable of handling the roaring white waters. The method of propulsion is typically the water around it, so one should bear this in mind when they choose to take a white water raft out for a spin. Because of their intended purpose, these are high quality rafts that will typically cost a it more, but for the hardcore sportsman, this is the perfect choice. As we said before, an inflatable whitewater kayak and even an inflatable fishing kayak will be much easier to use than the standard, especially considering you will not need to strap it to the roof of your vehicle to get it on location. Keep in mind that a good quality kayak will cost just as much as a standard kayak if not more. Due to the nature of these kayaks, they need to be durable, and they need to be able to withstand a number of different environments. Keeping this in mind when you make your purchase will keep you out of trouble, and keep your expectations high. That being said, now would be a great time for you to look into a decent kayak, one that will carry you over both rough and calm waters both now and in the foreseeable future.
