Lanzarote is a popular destination for summer holidays - and why not? There's sun, sea and sand to enjoy and there are Lanzarote hotels for everyone, whether it's a family holiday with the kids or a wild week away partying. For those wanting to have a bit of an adventure out at sea, there are lots of boat trips available to suit every budget and interest. Why not take a trip out on a deep-sea fishing boat and catch your own dinner, or enjoy a cruise to the neighbouring isle of Fuerteventura? If you head to the coast in any direction in Lanzarote there will be tour operators and locals offering you the chance to explore the Atlantic Ocean without getting your feet wet - from the comfort of a glass-bottomed boat. You will be able to see the volcanic reefs and of course all of the beautiful fish and other underwater wildlife. Another popular boat-trip in Lanzarote is to go deep sea fishing, and you may even be able to catch your own dinner! Most of these trips are whole-day so prices usually include not only the fishing equipment but also some drinks and lunch. When you think you've seen all there is to see on Lanzarote then it might be a good idea to catch a ferry over to Fuerteventura where you can explore new beaches and different local market stalls. Ferries run from Playa Blanca regularly throughout the year and also go to Gran Canaria; you could even look for cheap hotels in Gran Canaria and stay the night. For those wanting a really special trip out to sea, a cruise on a catamaran might be just the thing. All-inclusive cruises are available whereby holidaymakers can sip a drink from the open bar whilst lying on a sunbed working up a tan. Then at lunch time the crew will serve up something light so that guests can enjoy a swim and snorkel session when the catamaran is anchored in the bay. Some such cruises also offer the chance to enjoy the glistening, clear turquoise waters as a passenger on a jet ski and lucky passengers on board may even see some dolphins as they love to follow the boats and show off for tourists. When it comes to where to stay, there are so many hotels in Lanzarote that there is undoubtedly something perfect waiting for you. Those on a strict budget may wish to consider self catering apartments such as Bitacora Lanzarote Club Apartments or Balcon Del Mar Apartments, both situated in the beautiful higher region of Puerto Del Carmen. These apartments provide stunning views of the Atlantic, the volcanoes and the harbour, yet are still just a short walk from the sandy beaches. If you'd like to keep the cost of your holiday down then a great way to do this is to either look for low-cost Lanzarote hotels and use your spending money for lots of excursions such as a catamaran cruise, or alternatively to opt for special hotels and spend your time finding shorter, lower-cost excursions out at sea.
