The evolution of the Bohemian bead makers The glass bead makers in the Bohemian cities are continuing their trade since early 1500's. The discovery of the huge quartz deposits in the mountain around these cities bought a new scope of development for the bohemian glass makers. With the availability of wood in abundance from the forests and the rural skilled labors, glass and bead making became one of the most important trades in these cities. With the development of these cities, the glass industries also flourished which gave a huge scope of employment for the people and gave them a chance to use their skills to the fullest. With the enhancements in the technologies, these glassmakers started to gain huge popularity in the markets all over the world. They created some fine beads like the fire polished beads which were used by the jewelers from different parts of the world to make unique jewelries. Reason behind the huge demand of fire polished beads With the evolution of bead making and glassware, some new and complicated techniques came into the picture. During the mid 1800's, new technique was implemented which was known as pressing. This was a less time consuming process and gave the glassmakers a huge scope for accuracy. Also, using this method reduced the possibility of breakage to a large extent. As a result, the bead makers got more freedom to experiment with their skills and came up with some intricate designs which helped in the growth of jewellery making as a new form of art. These jewelries were mostly made by using a particular type of beads known as the fire polished beads. There were several reasons behind that. Intense heat is required for the process of making these beads which helps in making them extremely smooth and also in achieving deep and rich color which was more consistent as compared to the other beads that they made. Lead was not used in the process of making these beads which helped in avoiding any kind of health concerns. With the technological advancements, the bead makers further experimented with the sizes and the color range of these beads and as a result the jewellery crafters started using these beads for making exquisite designs.
