When you want to start running on a consistent basis it is important that you understand how you can start small. As you are creating changes in your exercising habits you want to be sure that you understand that walking is a great first step. There are not a lot of people that consider walking to be a good workout. When you are learning how you are going to be running on a consistent basis you should be sure that you start your workout regimen with walks. Walking is a great way to start training your body and preparing yourself for runs. When you are walking on a consistent basis you will also be developing the necessary time management skills to be running on a consistent basis. Start by taking thirty minute walks a day. As you establish this habit you will have to schedule a chunk of time in your schedule to be sure that you are able to warm up, walk for thirty minutes, cool down and get ready for the day. As you are walking for thirty minutes and you get comfortable with this workout you can then start to jog throughout your walk. This may sound intimidating, but you should be able to run one minute for every three minutes that you are walking. In order to do this, you are going to have to bring something with you that will allow you to time your run. When you are timing your run, you may want to find a track that has a clock or you may want to start using your own timing device. You want to be sure that you are taking all of the time that you need to be sure that you are comfortable with this level of jogging. As you are jogging one minute at a time you should make sure that you can complete this workout for thirty whole minutes. When you can do this for thirty minutes consistently, you will then want to start increasing the time of your jog. You do not have to increase your jog by a lot, but you can simply start to jog two minutes and then walk for two minutes. Making the time that you are jogging and walking even can help increase the intensity of your workout. After you make the time even and you are comfortable with that workout you will then want to increase the time of your jogging again. Slowly but surely, you should be able to build up your stamina to be able to run the whole thirty minutes. After you have established this stamina you have to make sure that you stick with a regular running exercise. Keeping up this stamina can be difficult for your body when you are not consistent with your workouts. If you are not running on a consistent basis you may find that you are not able to accomplish the amount of running that you were able to accomplish the last time that you were out running.
