Lapband weight loss surgery is now becoming popular among the people. A lot of people also do this surgery to reduced weight. One needs to know about lapband diet, or what diet they should have after the surgery. After the lap-band surgery the stomach can’t hold 4-6 ounces per meal. Thus, you really have to take care and should be specific about the nutritional value of fod you eat. There are certain foods which a lapband patient should avoid which include meat like steak as well as pork and hamburger. You should remove the skin of the oranges as well as grapefruits before eating them. Moreover, the fruits as well as vegetables require deseeding and de-skinning beforehand. Patient of lapband should avoid high fiber vegetables including celery, sweet potatoes, fried foods and spicy foods. They should avoid spices such as cinnamon, pepper or onion and garlic. If you don’t prefer milk then you can have calcium and protein rich foods including cottage cheese as well as dry milk should be added to your diet. Patients of lap-band require taking 50-60 grams of protein daily so that they can avoid protein deficiency. For such patients, they need to eat slowly by making tiny bites. The stomach needs to have protein shakes as well as should eat food slowly. One important thing for these patients is to make a habit of chewing food well; also cutting the food items in small pieces and then chew it thoroughly. One needs to opt for liquid diet if solid food causes them nausea and vomiting. One also needs to take care of when having medicine. Taking or swallowing pills or capsules with larger size can be difficult so make it half and take it. After the lapband weight loss surgery, one needs to follow liquid diet for three to four days. Stick to this diet otherwise complications such as band erosion or slippage will occur, requiring additional surgery. One should avoid taking caffeine for the first three months after the lap-band surgery. Strictly avoid taking carbonated beverages so as to avoid gas, bloating as well as increase in stomach size which is generally caused by carbonation. Immediately after the two months of surgery, one needs to stick with liquid diet, together with high protein intake. They should take protein rich foods. In fact can take liquids such as soup, baby food or sugar free gelatin 3 times a day. The lapband diet should include meat, protein, vegetables as well as salads. But be sure to avoid high carbonated food such as bread and potatoes. These are mainly the foods you should take and avoid. Make sure to get well familiar with the proper lapband diet beforehand.
