First you need to have a area that is free of clutter for your candle making supplies. You can purchase the soy wax and scent on the internet or at your local craft store. If you are going to make your soy candles on the kitchen table it should be covered with an old table cloth or news paper. Be sure all equipment and materials are clean and dirt free. You will need a glue gun, heat gun or blow dryer, soy wax and wicks, thermometer and melting pan. You want to use soy wax and soy candle wicks because they burn clean and are easy to use. You will need a wax melting pot and larger pan to put the water in. You put the melting pot in the boiling water or at the proper temperature in the larger pan. Place pieces of soy wax into the melting pot, and place melting pot into your steamer pot. When the water begins to boil, turn the heat down to a lower setting. Make sure to check the temperature before pouring the soy wax, it should be in the 150 to 160 degrees range. Now add one ounce Of fragrance which Will scent 16 Ounces of Soy Wax which is usually the amount of soy wax you should melt each time. Now your ready to pour the soy wax and do this carefully as the wax is very hot and you can get burned. With the glue gun put a small dab of glue on the bottom of the soy wick and place it in the middle of the container for the candle. keep the wick trimmed to ¼ of an inch. Wicks that are allowed to get larger than ¼ of an inch tend to burn faster and smoke. Now take your heat gun and after pouring the soy wax and let it stand and cool for a few minutes. With the heat gun slowly melt the soy wax on top and you will get a nice level scented candle now trim your soy wick after the soy wax has cooled. Scented soy candles
