The tablet PC become more and more popular, as well as its prices, it may become very easy for people to change a new one. However, you can't just chuck an old computer in the garbage and move on. Tablet PCs, like many electronics, contain heavy metals that pose environmental hazards when disposed of improperly. By doing any one of the following steps, you'll be able to shed that old computer without harming the environment. The second important factor for prudently in dealing with old tablet PCs is your personal information, which can be stored on tablet PC components and should not be released to others without properly destroying the information. The tablet's hard drive is the main concern, while personal information can also be stored on flash memory cards, floppy discs, tapes, DVDs and CDs. Deleting the data from the hard drive does not destroy the data, but simply flags it (as "deleted"). Various methods of deleting offer different levels of destruction. Data is stored on a hard drive until it is over-written 4 times. So even if you wipe the drive, data can still be retrieved. The safest way to destroy a hard drive is via special companies that can perform the work OR you can have a hard drive shredded. Nothing special, they actually put your hard drive into a big shredder to destroy it. By default, Windows Vista installs with several optional software bundles, referred to as "accessories." One such bundle contains functionality related to Tablet PCs, which most people do not use. Fortunately, disabling this functionality is not a difficult process. Some tablet PC may support the Vista, when you decide to discard it, you should remove it, but how? Here are the steps: 1.Press the Vista "Start" key and click on the "Control Panel" button. 2.Look for the "Programs" option and select "Uninstall a Program." If you are looking at the "Classic View," select the "Programs and Features" option. 3.Click "Turn Windows Features On or Off." This can be found on the left sidebar with a multi-colored shield next to it. When the "User Account Control" box appears, click "Continue" to bring up the "Windows Features" box. 4.Scroll down to "Tablet PC Optional Components" and remove the check next to it. Once done, click "OK" to remove the options. 5.Restart your computer to complete the removal process. I find vista to be very stable, and I like the new features, it is just about becoming comfortable in the OS and learning the new tricks. You may have done it before; however, you still have to do it again. Anyway, you should always be careful.
