When you decide to start your online business the first thing you must do is decide what you are going to sell. It's amazing how many people screw this up. People build websites or blogs everyday without even thinking about what they are going to sell. Some have a vague idea but if you want to grow a business and make sales which means make money you must know exactly what you are going to sell. So this requires some thinking on your part. One of my mentors tells me all the time you need to get offline, move a way from the computer and just think. This is even more important when you are just starting your online business. Many people think a blog is a business. Then after a year or so they wonder why they are not making any money online. Well if you are just blogging about any and everything without a plan you will never make any sales. Now some people do start a blog without any intention of making money. That's okay if that's what you want to do. But most people get online to make some money or start a business that they can grow. So now we know we must figure out what to sell before we get started online. Where do we start? You hear all the time do what you love. That's a good start. Look at things you love such as your hobbies. The reason you want to pick something you love is because you will have some hard times online. The average person online probably goes a year or two without selling very much. You will have more of a tendency to keep going if it is something you love. A lot of people want to do what they do on their full time job. This may or may not work. If you do not love your job now what makes you think you will love doing the same thing online. Now having said that there are plenty of people that make it work. But the key is they normally love their job. There maybe one part of your job that you love doing and you may be able to make that work. Do some research. Go on Google and explore. Put in things you would like to do. Go look at websites of people that are already doing those things you are interested in. What are they selling? If no one is selling anything in that niche it may not be something you want to go into. No money is being made. The easiest way to start an online business is through affiliate marketing. You simply sell other peoples products for a percentage. Go to Clickbank and you can look at thousands of digital products you can sell. Just look at the products in the niche you love. Affiliate marketing is where I would suggest you start your online business. You don't have to worry about shipping products or collecting money. It's all taken care of for you. You just need to find the products you want to sell, build you site and make offers. Without offers you can't sell anything online.
