Originated in China, some centuries back, Mahjong can be called one of the most ancient as well as one of most exigent game ever that required some serious skill to be played. Usually it’s played by three or four players at a time, depending upon the version that’s in action. As far as the dealing of tiles are concerned, the game consists of a total of 144 tiles, where each player is provided with 13 tiles each, when the game is being started. Each player then, either clockwise or counter clockwise, would pick up a tile from the central pile, and in case it is useful to him he keeps it and discards any other tile from the earlier given set. Else he gives up the tile that was taken out by him. Useful in the sense that the whole aim of the game is to attain a proper set of tiles, also called ‘Hands’, like melds, Kong, Chow, Eyes etc, by the means of dealing one at a time. When a player has a proper hand, he calls out the game’s name loud, and is declared the winner. A player with most number of wins at the end of a given set of games played is announced as the winner.
