According to the U.S. Department of Energy May 5, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of Energy will provide $ 47 million prize to promote research and development of biomass energy to reduce U.S. dependence on imported oil. Funded project will not only contribute to the sustainable development of the U.S. energy economy, but also will promote renewable bio-fuels in the United States. As Obama government "reduce oil supply dependency" comprehensive part of the program, to solve the problem of rising oil prices, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack (Tom Vilsack) and Energy Secretary Steven Chu (Steven Chu) 5 today announced a total of $ 47 million to provide funding for eight projects in research and development. That will support the production of biofuels, bio-energy and bio-resources from a variety of high-value bio-based products. In a clean, sustainable transportation fuels investment in these areas will help reduce America's oil imports, boost their economic development in rural areas, and for American workers and create clean energy jobs, and protect American families and businesses from future natural gas prices pressure. At the same time, these projects generated advanced bio-fuels, which compared to fossil fuels is expected to reduce at least 50% of greenhouse gas emissions. Permanently reduce dependence on foreign oil, and good control of domestic natural gas prices, which require intelligent scientists, wise business, strategic research and investment. the project is through the development of renewable resources to promote the innovation of the biomass energy, improving the efficiency of biomass energy production, which is a approach of sustainable development. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack (Tom Vilsack) said, The results of this study will help to promote rural economic development, through the development and testing of new process equipment to promote the profitability of energy crops, and promote the growth of U.S. farmers and agro-forestry. Through the support for the biomass energy research and development program will help to promote alternative renewable fuels and bio-products into the country's energy resources. Fund is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Food and Agricultural Research Institute and the U.S. Department of Energy Biomass Program. Each award is a competitive selection process. Recipients must allocate at least 20% matching funds for research and development, 50% of the matching funds program for demonstration projects. Recipients must be committed to a combination of science and engineering research in three areas: development of raw materials, bio-fuels and bio-based product development, analysis of the development of biofuels.
