According to the United States Daily Science website reported that, U.S. scientists have developed a new ionic liquid catalyst, which greatly improved the efficiency of artificial photosynthesis, and can be more efficient and more energy to convert carbon dioxide into fuel. Research published in a recent issue of "Science" magazine. Illinois university chemical and biological molecules engineering professor Paul ko nice lead a team coorperate with the two oxide materials company created such a catalyst. Two oxide materials owned by a retired professor of the university founder, Richard Marcel. In plants, photosynthesis using solar energy to transform carbon dioxide and water into sugars and other hydrocarbons. Scientists can extract biofuel from the sugar, sugar can be obtained from corn and other crops. The artificial photosynthetic can convert carbon dioxide into useful carbon-based chemicals, fuel and other compounds, In this process, the scientists used an electrochemical cell - its use of solar collectors or wind turbines to provide energy to a simple carbon dioxide into carbon-based fuels, such as formic acid or methane, To formic acid or methane further purification can get ethanol and other biofuels. Artificial photosynthesis can replace the use of biomass for manufacturing carbon-based substances such as chemicals and fuels. The paper collaborators marcel says:"The most important point of artificial photosynthesis is not competing food with people, compared with the use of biomass power generation, this method of electricity generation costs lower." However, large-scale application of artificial photosynthesis encountered a "stumbling block." The first step in making fuel -transforming carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide require large amounts of electricity to make the first reaction. Energy that provided fuel compared to the produce energy required more energy, more harm than good. Now, scientists at the University of Illinois using an ionic liquid as a catalyst, which greatly reducing the energy required for reaction. This ionic liquid reaction intermediates will remain stable, and thus a corresponding reduction in the conversion process requires electricity. In addition, the scientists used an electrochemical cell as a flow reactor, which make gaseous carbon dioxide output and oxygen input apart from liquid electrolyte. .The unique battery design allows scientists to precisely adjust the composition of the electrolyte flow and improve the reaction kinetics, including increased synthesis of ionic liquid as catalyst. Keni Si said: "This greatly reduces the carbon dioxide reaction overpotential. We need to lower the electric potential applied, so power consumption is also lower." Guangzhou Pengfa Biomass Energy Equipment Co.,Ltd is a manufacturer and supplier of biomass energy equipment export,Its main products are pellet mills,Screener / Sifter, Packing machine and wood as fuel.We provides best service to their customers by good quality, beautiful design, reasonable price and prompt delivery.
