Purchasing a used vessel can be tough. Deciphering the listing specifications can be baffling as to the true condition and operational rating of the boat; many selling yacht brokers would prefer to not divulge to you the precise flaws of a vessel. The basis for this? Many boat sellers have a problem with their yacht broker indicating anything negative with reference to their boat; the listing is thought to attract a buyer, not dishearten them. We think a tad differently at our brokerage. We would rather you realize what you are going to see up front; in fact, you will come across the flaws upon inspection in any case. But when we divulge flaws at the start, we can corroborate the selling price of the vessel. Our ranking guide has been written to provide you a summary of the yacht's complete shape as it relates to what you might need to do to prepare her for cruising. Each yacht is ranked based upon the reported condition, available gadgets and/or the listing broker's individual examination of boat. The ranking manual is not to be mistaken for a ranking supplied by a marine surveyor to determine worth. BRISTOL CONDITION - is provided to a boat that has been maintained in a mint or bristol condition, with lots of extras, the vessel is better than factory new. All electronics and apparatus are recent, hull and interior are blemish free. All machinery has been constantly updated. Everything works. Nothing needs to be finished or added for instant use. Turn key! Such a boat is uncommon. ABOVE AVERAGE - is provided to a vessel that has had above average care and is outfitted with recent electronics and equipment; many extras are present. Printed maintenance logs illustrate constant upgrading and service by her owner. Everything functions. Yacht has no mechanical or architectural flaws and few if any cosmetic issues. Interior and exterior areas shine and canvas is almost new. Engine room is incredibly unsoiled and organized. This boat is turn key, ready for boating! AVERAGE - is given to a vessel that received average type of treatment. Her electronics and machinery are old but will operate. Most of her equipment is original and the boat displays normal wear and tear. Canvas is functional but might require changing before long. Interior and exterior areas might require work to bring back their sparkle. The vessel will need some minor service, washing and polishing before it is set to travel. FAIR - is provided to a yacht that needs some considerable attention to get her ready for use. Some equipment may not function. The vessel needs a good amount of upgrades such as electronics, isinglass, bottom maintenance, inside wood work and fiberglass repairs. She will most likely need substantial maintenance to allow worry-free boating. POOR - is given to a boat that is deemed a "project boat". There is a sufficient amount of the hull and machinery left to recondition her to usable shape.
