">Israel Iz Kamakawiwo’ole needs no introduction at least in the music fraternity because he has set such high standards of music that he is known for music and music is known for him. Both share an eternal bonding and very few singers are found to develop such affection with their profession. He was born in a Hawaiian island called Oahu in the month of May and the year was 1959. 20th May is fondly remembered by every music lover as his birth anniversary. He developed an affinity for music at a very tender age and his inspiration is said to be his own uncle who was a known musician at that time. He used to perform in bars and casinos and this little boy would dream of a day when he would be able to create a niche in the music industry. His fondness for music gradually increased and by the age of 11 it was quite visible. When most children of his age would play with toys and roam around with friends, Israel Iz Kamakawiwo’ole practiced with his musical instruments day and night. His first album called Ka ‘ano’ i featuring him alone was released in the year 1990. This great musician had great hopes for future and wanted to do much more for the music industry but destiny had some other plans for him. He left for the heavenly abode at a very young age when he was just 38 and this tragic death created waves of shock among the masses. The whole of Hawaii was taken aback by this unexpected death of such great artist and described it as one of the greatest loss to the music industry especially for Hawaii in which his soul rest. His morbid obesity became the cause of his death because it is believed that this gave rise to the acute respiratory problems to which he later succumbed. He is believed to be among the very few singers who managed to receive such fame and acclaims within such short period of time and this is truly remarkable. Facing Future, the next album released in the year 1993 managed to earn him remarkable reviews and this encouraged him even more. The way Israel Iz Kamakawiwo’ole played his ukulele and his mesmerizing voice was something that would keep renovating in the ears of the listeners even days after. This musical legend would have given much more had he survived and the whole world still grieves for the incomparable loss.
