Did you have fun at the office Christmas party? Was it a time for fun and joking? Did the usual people make the usual remarks? Respect for the job is another factor that plays into why someone goes to work. They want to be able to respect themselves for what they do and hopefully, gain the respect of others. Pride in their work is another factor. People want to feel as though they are part of something when they work. They want a pat on the back now and then as an accolade. There are many factors that fall into play when it comes to what motivates someone to work and companies are making a big mistake if they think that it is only about the money. Even people in the underworld, who are mostly motivated by easy money, still find those that rise up in their organizations in an effort to get noticed. In order to notice employees, events can take place to do so. These events provide them with recognition for their achievements and a chance to unwind. They can be used as a way to get everyone on board with working together as a team so that everyone can share in the respect and recognition that the company receives. This makes for a far better workplace because it gives everyone a chance to be part of something positive.
