If you've searched a lot on the web then you will probably read more instances of nipple thrush than male thrush but it's not only confined in women. Having said this, females often experience thrush complications when breast feeding and this starts to become a big topic of discussion. Thrush is the symptom associated with a yeast bacteria called candida albicans. Candida is normally found in everyone although a healthy immune system will usually be able to maintain the levels with this bacteria. Everyone has good bacteria and bad bacteria within our bodies that counteracts each other and maintain a nice level. However, sometimes stuff happens that upsets this balance, the yeast regenerates and causes a big yeast infection. Issues can vary greatly but with breast and nipple thrush, the major players are nipple and/or breast discomfort which can sting, burn, itch or be a deep pain regularly described as a 'shooting' pain. Regularly her pain will be very intense. Having said this, on investigation, there is quite often nothing to speak of. In different patients the region might be a sore pink colour and the areola area may be red which might be dry, flaky or cracked. Any pain associated with these symptoms can vary in intensity but will usually be strongest while or after breast feeding and very often in response to antibiotic medicine which kills off the balancing bacteria. These symptoms will usually be passed to the infant as mouth thrush. Mouth thrush will be noticed as a milky white film in any areas in the child's mouth. The areas below the white regions will be very sore and may bleed a little if cleaned. Your infant might also display symptoms of thrush around it's bottom regions that will be seen as a rash with dotted spots around it which will only disappear with anti-fungal medication. It is very important to watch what you eat. Lots of fruits will aggravate the condition as does peanuts, alcohol and refined sugar. There's many ways for treating thrush. Lots of people turn to ointments which will make a temporary balance to counteract a yeast imbalance. However, there's a proven natural method to deal with recurring thrush infection.
