Improving your golf game can be a frustrating process when you have reached the point when you just don’t seem to be making progress any more. Practice is the key, but unless you have retired and/or are able to spend as much time as you want on the course, then improving your game can seem like its never going to happen. When you factor in time spent travelling, money on petrol and lack of energy after a long day at work it is easy to see why practicing your skills consistently (which is what is needed if you want to see any real improvement) is not an easy task. There are a number of ways to improve your skills. Of course you could always spend your hard earned money on an instructor to help you improve your technique. A good instructor will clearly help you to identify areas of weakness, but keep in mind lessons are costly and it can take a lot of them to cover all aspects of your game. Golf instructional DVDs are often overlooked as a cost effective tool in technical improvement. Good instructional DVDs will cover a vast area of technical tips and know how. You also have the added benefit of being able to rewind the disc and watch the instructors demonstrations time and time again. This will allow you to copy what is actually there in front of you and if you want feedback you can watch yourself it he mirror to identify where you are going wrong. Being able to rewind the DVD is key in the learning process as correct practice (and I stress correct practice) is vital and being able to watch and listen to instruction time and time again is undoubtedly beneficial as apposed to private instruction when after an hours lesson how much do you actually remember the next day anyway leave alone visualising the correct technique a few days later. Using a DVD allows you to practice swing technique at home late in the evening or even at work in your lunch break (if you have a private office and DVD facilities) without any travelling or spending every spare minute on the course. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to practice after a lesson and not being able to remember quite how the shoulders and spine move on the downward swing or how to keep the or the angle of the club face. DVDs allow you to watch and repeat time and time again. The biggest obvious benefit is it is far cheaper than paying for private lessons. DVDs by PGA professionals who really know what they are talking about will provide you with a wealth of information. DVDs of this nature will cover any number of topics from insightful technical tips to practice drills to golf etiquette to course management. This will clearly depend on your purchase so make sure you know what is included before you buy. The golf swing is a relatively closed skill and DVDs can provide the golfer with often much needed information to allow them to progress and get past those frustrating hurdles which can so often spoil enjoyment of the game.
