Patna is one of the most ancient and historical city, which was previously named as Pataliputra. It is the capital city of Indian state of Bihar and most popular educational and medical hub. Patna was the capital of several great kingdoms like Mauryas, Nandas, Guptas and Sungas. The city is also very rich in spiritual beliefs. Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism prospered and thrived here. Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism passed through Patna during his ending years of life and foretold a great future for the city. Nonetheless, he also foreseen its devastation from flood and fire. Guru Gobind Singh, tenth Guru of the Sikhs was also born here.

Patna was also famous place for trade and commerce in the previous years. The Dutch, French, Portuguese and Danes fought violent battles to control the trade of the city that traded with silk, calico, saltpeter apart from several many other goods.

Attractions in Patna:

Patna is specked with various attractions that include Gol Ghar, Kumhrar, Takht Shri Harmandir Saheb, Mahatama Gandhi Setu, and Patna Museum that gesture the visitors to visit the place many times.

Gol Ghar is a huge depot made by the British. It gives sensational views of the city and the Ganges flowing by. Takht Shri Harmandir Saheb is a well renowned place of pilgrimage for the religiously inclined people particularly the Sikhs. It is a place where Sikhs tenth religious guru, Guru Gobind Singh was born. Kumhrar is also historical sight and has small museum with certain old objects that vitrine the glory of the Mauryan Dynasty.

Mahatama Gandhi Setu is one of the lengthiest river bridges in the world. It connects Patna with other North Bihar and offers bird's-eye view of the Ganges and the other places surrounding it. Patna Museum which is topically known as Jadu Garh is a wonderful museum with more than 57000 articles of import. Much of the famous things are stone/bronze carvings, the Patna Museum also has several terracotta figures that throw much light on the cultural and historical background of the state. Nevertheless, the pridefulness of the museum is the Didarganj Yakshi that attracts many travelers.

Lok Nayak Jayaprakash airport is the main airport which is located about 5 km from southwest of Patha. Patna has five major railway stations namely the Rajendranagar Terminal, Patna Junction, Gulzarbag, Patna Sahib and Danapur Junction.
