Making A Gorgeous First Impression - Part 2

Relationships,Fashion & Cosmetics
Everybody, regardless of age or social standing, benefits from knowing how to make a good first impression in any situation!

Whether you're a high school senior preparing to interview for admission to your favorite university, or a Baby Boomer wanting to get back into dating, you’ll find that your chances of success are increased in proportion to how positive a first impression you make.

And we have collected some tips which will make that first impression as good as it can possibly be!

1

First, never be in apposition where you can blame your failure to impress on your hair. “I had a bad hair day,” is no excuse for having an embarrassing first encounter with someone. If you have limp, nondescript hair, then a visit to a beauty salon for styling and purchase of volumizing products will fix things. If your hair is uncontrollably frizzy or curly, the same applies: simply have it professionally styled in a way that will both minimize its willfulness and be simple for you to maintain.

The key is to take charge of you hair so that you can have it looking its best in minutes, even if you are only running out to pick up some bagels and the Sunday paper.

2

Second, learn the art of making small talk effortlessly. You will go a very long way toward mastering sill of making a good first impression if you can engage others in pleasant, if inconsequential, conversation until they are comfortable with you, and the best way to do so is to simply ask them non-threatening questions. You’ll be letting them know that you are interested in getting their opinions, or in learning something about their lives.

If you’ve been introduced by a mutual acquaintance who has already told you something about the other person, you can use that as a starting point. Small talk is the quickest way to navigate those awkward first moments and keep nervousness from ruining the encounter.

3

Third, approach any new meeting with a positive mindset. Your attitude will communicate itself to others in spite of your best efforts to hide it, so try to remain as upbeat as you can even if you are feeling nervous or have been the object of criticism.

4

Next, remain attentive and polite throughout your encounter. Having good manners will weigh very favorably in the opinions which others form about you, and they include things as simple as turning off your cell phone for the duration. You have undoubtedly been in a public place where someone was carrying on a phone conversation with one person while in the company of another. Such behavior makes it difficult to decide which person is more important, doesn’t it? Good manners mean that the most important person to you is the person you are with at any moment.

5

Finally, be genuine. Don’t try to impress by adopting false behavior which you think will impress; impress by letting those around know you are comfortable with yourself, because it will make them comfortable with you.

Of course you may need to dress differently for a job interview than you do when you are relaxing with your friends, but you should always remain faithful to your personality and beliefs. Trust the future boss to determine whether the “natural you” will be a good fit for the job. If you are in a dating situation, it’s even more important to be authentic, because any relationship with a false basis is doomed to end badly.

Making a good first impression is the only way to ensure that you will have the opportunity to continue in a relationship, so follow the above suggestions and see what a difference they can make in your life!
