Tea also contains both caffeine and theanine which heightens mental awareness making it a healthy drink not only for the body but the mind as well. Until recently lemon was added to ice tea for added flavor but recent studies have shown that by adding lemon the health benefits are greatly increased. Lemon tea has a high level of vitamin C which helps boost the immunity system and plays a major role in the metabolism of calcium for healthier teeth and bones. It also contains vitamin P which is vital for the maintenance of blood vessels and has been known to help control both high blood pressure and internal bleeding. By adding lemon to tea it reacts as a diuretic which helps prevent and gives relief to both kidney and bladder disorders. Lemon tea is one of the best sources for citric acid and contains a high level of potassium which is essential for the heart. It is all a matter of personal choice and while many people enough their tea hot, ice lemon tea still has all the same health benefits because it is still made by brewing the same tea leaves. Iced lemon tea is often used as a natural remedy for immediate relief of numerous stomach disorders and has a calming effect on the nervous system making it a natural sedative. Because ice lemon tea is actually free of calories (without any added sweeteners or creams) it has also become known as a healthy drink that promotes weight loss. Iced tea has been proven to increase the energy level of the body causing fat cells to burn off at an excelled rate while still supplying the body with the nutrients it needs and it helps prevent the body from regaining the weight it has lost.
