Home Improvement,Fashion & Cosmetics,Family & Parenting
There are myriad of flooring options available these days. Right from different types of tiles like ceramic, vinyl, terracotta, etc. to wooden and carpet flooring; one has simply a lot of choice to choose from. Among the different options, carpet and tiles are equally favored by people and hence, both of these flooring types are used simultaneously by people. Naturally there are places where you will be required to make the carpet to tile transition. Here we will take a look at the different methods.

Transition Between Tile & Carpet

There are several methods that help in making the tile carpet transition. The actual transition material used depends on the type and material of the carpet as well as that of the tile. You have many options, in case the height of the carpet and the tile are the same. On the other hand, if they are different, you need to make use of only specified types of transition material. If you are wondering how to carpet tile transition, then you can take a look at the following easy methods and follow them at home.

'T' strip or the Transition Strip: This is one of the most commonly used types of tile and carpet transitions. In this, the vertical part of the 'T' goes in between the carpet and the tile. The top overlays both the pieces. This transition is usually used in high traffic areas, where one needs to avoid the tile edge from getting damaged. Brass Trim: Brass and aluminum strips are also commonly used for carpet to tile transition in case of ceramic or other glazed tile designs. This is also one of the best options in case you want a seamless tile to carpet transition or transition between any two types of flooring. The trim has a slope in order to carry out the above mentioned function, and is easy to install. One of the other advantages of the brass trim is that they are available in a variety of options. Bullnose Trim: In case you have a tile that is higher than the carpet, then you can go for the bullnose trim. This trim has a rounded shape and is helpful in a high traffic area. Chamfer Trim: The chamfer trim is another type of edging used in case of a higher tile. It is similar to the above mentioned type of transition; but differs in shape. The chamfer transition has a 45 degree angle which helps in covering up the difference in between the two flooring types. Vinyl Strips: Apart from the above mentioned methods, one of the lesser known method is using vinyl strip for carpet to tile transition. Vinyl is one of the most durable materials of transition available today and hence, these strips can be used in any part of the house. One of the other advantages of using the vinyl strip is that they are available in a variety if colors and patterns, and hence, you will surely find something that perfectly matches your tile and carpet patterns. Natural Transition: Lastly, if you wish to have a natural transition, then you can either cut or sand the edges of the tiles to make it smooth, with rounded edges. This is usually done if the tile is only slightly higher than the carpet.

These are some of the ideas on carpet to tile transition that you can go for. Nearly all the above mentioned material is easily available in most of the parts of the world. You can research in the market or check on the Internet to get the best stuff. Good luck!
