The louis vuitton handtaschen Company was started as a luggage and trunk-maker company by a man known as Louis Vuitton. He was born in France in 1821. When he was fourteen, he went to Paris and took up work under a luggage and trunk-maker known as Monsieur Marechal as his apprentice. He got some of his skills from that job and became skilled in making high quality luggage and trunks and started his own store in 1854. The flat-topped trunks were his first invention and they made traveling with bags easier and became popular. He continued to introduce more innovative designs and in 1860, started a much larger company to produce more of his pursued goods. His son, Georges also took after his father and joined him in his creation of luggage and is also credited with inventing the combination lock found on all Louis Vuitton luggages. After Louis Vuitton's death in 1892, Georges took over the business and introduced it other countries. In this same year, the company began to sell handbags for which it is primarily known today. Around that time, the designs of the company began to come into circulation and to stop it, the logo and the monogram canvas were designed. It was in 1896 that Georges invented the monogram canvas which is still a sensation. In 1914, the main Louis Vuitton Damier building was built in Champs-Elysees followed by other branches in different areas. Gaston-Louis, who was Georges's son, took over the company when his father died in 1936. he is also known to have been as successful as his father and grandfather. The company was expanded into Asian countries in the 70s, where it became hugely popular. But it didn't stop there as it expanded its territory into sporting events and created some of the world's most well-known ones. Later it joined forces with Moet ET Chandon and Hennessy to form LVMH and had 130 stores built in different countries by 1989. New items like wallets, purses and smaller bags were made by the company in the 1950s when it learnt a different way of coating its bags. Marc Jacobs was hired by the company in 1997 and served it well in the time when it had just started making new types of accessories like clothes and shoes. He and a Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami later worked to redesign the illustrious monogram canvas handbag, making it a multicolored canvas. The success of this amazing company continues to rise and even now, it is taken to be an honor to have one of their products and is hugely popular with celebrities. But the counterfeit products claiming to be Louis Vuitton products also rose with its success and most of the items on the market thought to be Louis Vuitton are actually counterfeits and not genuine.
