Islamic Clothing for Women Demystified

Fashion & Cosmetics,Family & Parenting,Islam
Cultures around the world are able to build unique identities for themselves with the language they speak, the food they eat and most importantly, the clothes they wear. Clothing is one of the first attributes we witness when we immerse ourselves into a culture different from our own. Although the variance you will spot in male attire within a specific culture or sub-culture is usually minimal, this does not hold true for women. This is perhaps why the wide variety and range you will find when it comes to Islamic clothing for women has fascinated anthropologists for thousands of years. Let us take a moment to explore four highly popular types of Islamic clothing for women that is in vogue today. Abaya Ever since the world's top fashion labels and designers like Dior, Blumarine, John Galliano and Hind Beljafla have turned their attention to abayas, luxury labels and abayas have begun to become synonymous with each other. An abaya is a long, loosely fitted cloak that covers everything below the shoulder except the hands and the feet. Think of the abaya as an "over-garment" which you would wear over your outfit. Abayas are expertly tailored by seamstresses and tailors who reside in large Muslim communities where the demand for abayas is strong. For those of you who would like to purchase an exquisitely made abaya online at a reasonable price, there are many online stores like ours which make the abaya available in hundreds of designs, textures and fabric. State-of-the-art technology has even made it possible for customers to pick their very own style, fabric, embroidery and size based on which made-to-measure abayas are crafted and delivered worldwide. Hijab A hijab is a clothing accessory that allows muslim women to be both modest and fashionable at the same time. Think of the hijab as a head scarf that covers the hair and the neck that is worn mostly outdoors. The prints are simple and classic and wearing hijabs that sport solid colors is fashionable. Jilbab A jilbab is similar to an abaya in that it is also worn over an outfit much like an overcoat. However, a jilbab grants room for style and artistic expression from a designer's perspective. Burka A burka is a muslim women clothing full-body outfit that covers from head to toe. Owing to its ultra-conservative look, burkas are worn mostly in Islamic countries or in countries with a significant Muslim presence. Burkas continue to remain popular in any ensemble that features Islamic clothing for women because of the grace it brings to the individual wearing it. Muslim women continue to try to strike the perfect balance between fashion and tradition. Fortunately, there are a number of forward-looking stores on the Internet that have been successful in achieving the Golden Mean where neither fashion nor tradition are compromised in any way as a result of which women residing in the most remote parts of the world can also enjoy and wear the favorite Muslim fashions of their choice.
