As cars get older, the elements from all kinds of weather does have an impact on the parts on your car and can make those parts hazy, dirty and can even make some parts with an oxidized surface. In this article I will mention how to clean and deoxidize the headlight covers. The supplies you will need are vinegar and water, because vinegar is a good cleaning agent and the water will dilute the vinegar, medium grit sand paper, fine grit sandpaper and paper towels to wipe off the area being cleaned and a bowl or small bucket to mix the vinegar and water together. To begin, have all your supplies handy, so you won't have to go back and forth getting supplies, and to make the job a little quicker. 1. Pour a little water and vinegar in the bowl or bucket and mix a little. 2. Get a small piece of medium grit sandpaper about a few inches wide, because a whole sheet of sandpaper would be a little too much to use. 3. Put the sand paper in the mixture to wet it and go to the dirty headlight cover and with circular motion wet sand the whole area while sanding apply a light pressure, because too much pressure will scratch the headlight cover. What you are doing is wet sanding off the oxidation buildup and dirt that is on the cover. Do this step for a few minutes. When done wipe the cover off with the paper towel to clean and see how much oxidation came off. 4. The next step is to use the fine sand paper, put the sandpaper in the mixture to wet the sandpaper and start to wet sand in a circular motion to wet sand off more oxidation and smooth en out the surface of the headlight cover. Do this step for another few minutes then wipe with the paper towel. if the above mention did not get all of the oxidation buildup off. Then repeat until the headlight cover is clear. Doing this will clean and clear the headlight covers and make them look new, but it will and might take a while to get the job done. Once done, and the headlight covers are clear, add some car wax to them to protect the covers from future build and scratches.
