Smart traders, they don't ever try to time the markets. But they do watch the key economic and market indicators to help inform their trades. That might sound like a contradiction but it isn't. Investors use the indicators to help set their levels for hedges and for selling calls, but don't use them to enter and exit the market. They know when to sell and make a profit no matter how small it is. Small profits add up so waiting for the big trade will cost you money. Staying in touch with the different market news or indicators can make you money.Many times 70% of S&P 500 GSPC companies reporting have beaten estimates. The historical average is fifty nine percent. This would normally be good. But many companies have been giving cloudy forward guidance. This muddies the waters and doesn't help the markets.
