Content creation is the heart of an online business, but coming up with ideas for content isn’t always easy. At times it may feel like you’ve written about every angle there is on a topic; at others you may be hit with an avalanche of ideas when you least expect it. Here are 8 ideas for content creation when you hit a dry patch. Tap into your readers’ pain. What are the problems your readers are trying to solve? If you know what the typical questions or problems people in your niche are experiencing, your task become how to relieve their pain and solve their problems. If you don’t know what their problems are, visit forums in your niche and pay attention to what questions are being asked. Interview or profile an expert. If you feel like you have nothing to say, talk to someone who does. Experts in your field will most likely be glad to grant an interview in order to obtain more publicity. Google alerts. Google alerts are relevant email updates on any topic you wish to monitor. Set up your alerts with a few keywords related to your niche. This is an easy way to receive ready-made ideas. Skim headlines. If you’re really stuck, take a ride to the nearest bookstore or library and skim the headlines of national magazines related to your topic. Eavesdrop. Writers often tend to isolate and become blocked because of that isolation. Get out of the house somewhere that you’ll be surrounded by people – an airport, a mall, a bus terminal – and eavesdrop on what people are talking about. It may be just the inspiration you need. Write a product review. Tell your readers about a product relevant to your niche. Be sure to include both pros and cons. Make a list. The easiest way to trigger a blog post or article is to make a list, such as “10 ways to…”., “6 reasons why…”, etc. Write about not knowing what to write about.
