Retirement, what will life be like? Volunteering, as many relate, keeps you active in a constructive way. Is there anything else during this time of reflection? How do you go from being the key person at a company, teacher, administrator, or any of countless kinds jobs or vocations to having dust on an alarm clock? Now, when some are in a life crisis on how to use their time, is when you may feel the most alive to restore order and vigor to the pulse of your life. Good memories, and insights from challenging or difficult situations has never been so rich and fertile! Some self publish books for family and friends and possibly others; they can sell them on the Internet to people who may fall upon them. Who knows, maybe your memoir book becomes popular to a lot of people. Ultimately, if you piece your treasured memories and most esteemed insights into one cohesive book, then there is often a sense of peace and purpose from the experience. Maybe you need a book writing coach; someone to add structure, insights and support to getting a book done. Albeit, staying in your home in order to write a book will not, for most, be enough. You, if able, would be well advised to travel; see the places that have been on your mind. Be good, as the saying goes, to yourself. We sometimes neglect our own needs and feelings for so long that life looses meaning. Also, have more to talk with others about once home. Give to yourself by seeing more of the world in order to feel good and shine best to others. If you experience stagnation or just do not feel well, go through the motions of writing a book and traveling so that once started on your memoirs or on a vacation the value of life kicks in to place. Remember, patterns set shortly after retirement have a way of becoming a habit. So look to have your best life possible. Many need to change their actions before they can feel good enough to change their lives. If you wait to feel better before being proactive, then you risk not changing at all. Think of how hard you have worked to be able to retire. Remember all the hard fought life lessons that got you through the toughest times; piece them together.
