Flying There Though, Heathrow is the airport most people tend to go to for the games, there are three or even four more airports you can look at getting a good flight deal to. Those looking to fly to London can get budget flights to some of the periphery airports - most of which are under an hour to the city centre by bus - which is not much longer than from Heathrow. Luton, Stansted and Gatwick all make good places to look for flights to with budget airlines such as Easy Jet and Ryan air servicing them frequently. This can save significant amounts of cash and also not really have a significant impact on your journey in terms of time. Getting to the City Centre All of the airports offer you with the opportunity to get a Green Line bus service, or even an Easy Jet operated bus service. These are often a lot cheaper than the train and mean that you save cash. In most cases there is also very little difference in the amount of time they take to get to the city centre and in some cases they are faster than a train and allow you to get off at a number of stops on the way. Many of the airlines allow you to book advance tickets, this way you do save money. However, you can also book tickets online for months before the trip, this can mean you get tickets for almost nothing when compared to the on the day cost. These bus sites offer you the chance to do this at a low cost and save some money in advance. Where to Stay Whether you want to stay in a hostel or in the city centre sites such as Livingsocial deals or other city deals sites can give you great rates on hotels, often at a rate of up to 70% off. Other sites such as Trivago will look for the lowest possible cost for a hotel in the area you want to stay and show you. This allows you to pick hotels often at about half the price you would usually expect when coming to London. The city is also full of hostels and other similar places to stay. These vary in quality, but you can find some really great ones in some great locations such as Camden and East London - making it perfect for you to explore from. Students Most of the UK offers special dispensations to students. These allow students often up to a quarter off their bills and costs, which goes especially well with city deals or if you get a low cost place to stay with Dublin deals. Usually these can be used in restaurants and even when buying goods from a number of stores, such as clothing shops and for electrical goods. This can greatly lower the cost of buying items and really make your trip all the more affordable. Taste Cards are also a great way to lower costs and you can get a free trial membership for up to 3 months often with city deals and others and up to 2 months via the sites website. This usually offers up to 50% off meals or 2for1 meals.
