HTML5 Ditched by Major Mobile Application Developers: Mobile is Back to Native

Computers

We all know the contribution of mobile application development in the business world. It is imperative for business. Every business has a mobile presence to gain a competitive edge above its rivals. In fact, some of the recent technology made it really simple to create mobile applications for varied platforms. Technology that allowed developers to write once and run everywhere made it relatively simpler to develop mass appealing apps for major platforms and devices with little changes in the code and look & feel.

HTML5 is one of the hyped technologies, which was adopted by major mobile application development company. With the introduction of HTML5, mobile application developers got a new direction to create alluring and interactive applications. However, after over a year of real-time HTML5 implementation and integration, top mobile applications developers have encountered long-term troubles with HTML5 for mobile devices. In the latest conference, Mark Zuckerberg said that creating a Facebook mobile app using HTML5 was its biggest mistake. Many other developers have put the issues with HTML5 in front. Through this article, let us take a close look at why HTML5 is not suitable for mobile apps.

According to the latest remarks by Facebook owner, Mark Zuckerberg, The biggest mistake of the company was to bet on HTML5, one of the issues being slow browsing capability. Facebook burnt two years for creating impeccable mobile presence for cross devices and platforms. However, there has been an issue with how users connected to the platform.

Recent reports confirmed that mobile users are more likely to use Facebook and stay connected inside the app than the desktop user. Since Facebook launched a native upgrade against its HTML5 version for iOS platform, it realized that users are looking at “double” numbers of stories now as the app works faster than earlier.

Several analysts backed Zuckerberg and suggested that HTML5 is losing at least in terms of mobile. Practically, HTML5 is not suitable for the fast growing mobile market. However, this doesn’t mean that the future for HTML5 is over. It means that HTML5 is just not meant for mobile devices, but can be enhanced, standardized to match the perfect requirement of the web. Right now, the technology simply outperformed against its rivals.

Let us look at a few real-time reasons who ditched HTML5 and why? Recently, German social games developer, Wooga, abandoned HTML5 due to the problems with discoverability. They said that users weren’t used to setting desktop links as home screen icons. They also raised connectivity problem saying that HTML5 required internet connection at least while loading the game, if not while using it.

DRM (Digital Rights Management) Multimedia problem is also often encountered, which is the reason the top sites such as BBC and others forced Adobe Player back to Google Play store in UK. HTML5 doesn’t in itself support DRM videos.

Facebook had the biggest blow with HTML5 as it was very keen on HTML5 building up. However, with performance problems, it went ahead to ditch HTML5.

So, what are we left out with? We go back to building native app experience for mobile users. Native mobile application development from an experienced company can create a flawless web presence. Will HTML 5 survive the world of web? The story will be followed.
