Ballet Folklorico Los Angelitos is the educational branch Casa Hogar Los Angelitos. At Ballet Folklorico kids and youngsters from Casa Hogar learn to express themselves through performing arts particularly Ballet. Classes are conducted for all ages and the students from the advanced program are often selected to showcase their ballet dancing abilities at shows held throughout Mexico and USA. The advanced program class is a large one with at least 25 participants ages 12 to 20. The members are not only from the Casa Hogar Los Angelitos charity but also from the surrounding areas of Manzanillo, Mexico. At Ballet Folklorico Los Angelitos we have strong emphasis on teaching our children that passion and determinations are important qualities. Coupled with discipline and hard work, our students can achieve anything they have ever dreamed of. And traditional Mexican dances are the perfect way to teach them these virtues while giving them awareness of the Mexican culture. No matter their age or dancing abilities, our dancers are always super excited about performing for the public. Ballet Folklorico was established on the belief that the best way to engage battered children in psychological and social transformation is through the arts. Ballet Folklorico brings together community members, children from Casa Hogar Los Angelitos and our patrons in cultural activities spanning from local cultural events to state-wide municipal and fund raising events. Our Mexican folk dancers use their education of expressions and movements to stimulate social learning. Casa Hogar Los Angelitos is a home for children rescued from orphanage, poverty, abuse and other distraught situations. With a track record that is nearly a decade old, CHLA is deeply rooted in our surrounding community and regularly organizes ballet classes for children that are living in the vicinity as well. This is important because artists need their communities in order to develop into mature, culturally-conscious individuals. The dance programs conducted at Ballet Folklorico Los Angelitos give rigorous instruction in traditional Mexican dance forms. Our patrons and attendees to our local dance performances can attest that our students are well-versed in several Mexican dance forms; they can perform pre-Hispanic dances and even the very precise movements from Tamaulipas quite beautifully. Here, the youth are encouraged to express themselves via the dance form. They learn to challenge themselves and their fellow dancers to actively participate in all our shows. The skills that help them make better dancers are the ones that also enable them to succeed at life. They learn the importance of critical thinking and team working. They set goals and achieve them by working passionately and meticulously. Our students are our pride and joy and we need all the help we can get to take care of them.
