This method is a cost-effective way to advertise your site and attract new customers. With this type of marketing, customers allow you to send them emails about your product or service. However, you must only send such material to those who have given their permission and provided their information on your opt-in page.

The more people you can add to your list, the more money you will be able to make in the future. Leads of this type are invaluable when you are building your business, as they have already shown some interest in your product or service. Otherwise, they would not have willingly signed up to receive your newsletters and advertisements.

Below are four additional tips you should consider:

Form Placement

Your opt-in form should be strategically placed immediately following the content on your website. Although some marketers say this is a bit premature, if your homepage is attractive and leaves visitors with a good impression, they will likely sign up for free newsletters. The text right before the opt-in form should not be complicated. Rather, you should simply write a short statement explaining that they can enter their name and e-mail address if they would like to receive occasional updates about the products and services you offer.

Homepage Appearance

As previously mentioned, your homepage must make a good impression. You should place meaningful content on your site and attempt to capture each visitor's attention within a few seconds. If they find your content boring or your website difficult to use, they are not likely to return in the future. Your graphics should be attractive without being overdone. In addition, do not assume that all guests will be Internet savvy. Make your website easy to navigate.

Quality Products

Providing good products and services is at the heart of any successful business. This is also true where Internet marketing is concerned. If the products you offer perform the way they are described in your advertisements, you will likely receive more traffic through word-of-mouth referrals. Those who use and like your products may direct other individuals to your site, which will help you with your listbuilding endeavors. Such recommendations are invaluable, as unlike most new customers, you did not have to pay anything to gain their business.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a highly important aspect regarding e-mail marketing. Never do anything to make your customers lose their trust in you. If you sell e-mail addresses to other companies and your customers get spammed, they are likely to unsubscribe and file a complaint against you. Once you or your company acquire a bad reputation, it will be very hard to build a lucrative business again.
