The need for continuous improvement in all aspects of our life is crucial. Regardless of its nature, we must strive hard to look for betterment in ourselves. There are a lot of things in our environment that needs to be changed for it to be more effective and efficient. One of the things that we need to improve is our energy source. We all know that we are dependent on fossil fuels. For years we have extracted power from burning oil from the Middle East. Though it provides us with sufficient power but it will eventually deplete. The reservoir of black gold in the Middle East is hastily diminishing. Not to mention its adverse effects in our environment. For it produces huge amount of carbon and other toxic substances which are then released to the atmosphere thus causes the green house effect. This will eventually affect our climate for it will cause massive global warming. Another form of power source that we utilize is nuclear energy. Though it is cheap and can last longer, but the threat from radiation and contamination outweighs it. We have already seen its catastrophic effects in Chernobyl and Japan. The consequence was simply overwhelming for a whole city needs to be deserted due to the risk of harmful emissions. Fortunately, our Australian government has come to realize the need to look for natural and renewable source of energy. One form of clean energy is from Micro Hydro Power source. It is a mechanical device which is placed in small rivers and streams. The force of the flow of the water will force the turbine to spin which is then connected to a generator which produces electricity. The project is very effective for a single unit is able to light fifty households. The aim of this mission is to reduce the dependency from traditional power sources thus minimizing energy cost. The initiative was very successful that even large institutions such as Bundoora Indoor Sports and Melbourne Dodgeball League benefited from this project. They have turned to this venture for they will serve as a shinning beacon so that others might imitate their move. They want to instill in our minds that enterprises should do their part in helping the community and government preserve our environment. Though this is just a minute step, the possibilities are endless. Truly, such organizations should be commended for their notable shift.
